Online League Rules
The Appian Youth Board Game Club is organizing online board-gaming for students in grades 6 or higher during the 2020-2021 school-year. Below is information about how the online league is structured.
BOARD-GAMING PLATFORM: The Appian Youth Board Game Club organizes its online board-game play on the Yucata website (www.yucata.de). Yucata is a German board-gaming website, which currently hosts more than 150 online board games, with more being added all the time. Students can register to participate in the online board-gaming league on the registration page.
GAME INSTRUCTION: We will play approximately 15 different games throughout the school year. Players will learn a new board game approximately every two weeks. In addition to video tutorials to help students learn the games, an Appian board gaming coach will be available via Zoom during weekly live-play sessions to answer questions and help facilitate game play.
LIVE-PLAY: Game play on Yucata is asynchronous, meaning that players can log out of the website at any time, and only need to log back in to play their turn. However, it is much more fun for everyone if games are played live. For this reason, we encourage live game-play by scheduling specific meet-ups times on Yucata several times a week. Our live-play schedule is:
Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET
Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET
Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET
PLAYER RANKINGS: The Yucata rating system will be used to determine each player's performance in the games. The names of the top league players in each game will be posted online and updated each week.
PLAYER CONDUCT: Players are expected to conduct themselves appropriately while participating in the online league. Any player who engages in unacceptable language or behavior will be dropped from the league roster.
